A second Blancpain GT Series podium for Salih Yoluc

Oman Racing with TF Sport and Salih Yoluc leave Silverstone in high spirits with back-to-back Blancpain GT series podiums at the home of British motor racing.

The weekend started off with the team securing pole position on Sunday morning. The trio of Salih, Ahmad Al Harthy and Charlie Eastwood set a combined 2:01:108 to put them as the highest placed Aston Martin in P18 overall and first in class.

Having watched Ahmad avoid the early chaos, Salih took over for the second stint where he was able to maintain fourth place under the sunny skies of Silverstone.

Despite receiving a knock in the midst of his stint, the Turkish driver continued on with a steering issue around the track he has earnt much success from. With three wins and a handful of podiums at the circuit, he held on to fourth place and put in some hot-laps sending the Vantage over to Charlie in the best possible position to be in pursuit of the final podium position.

Charlie re-joined the race during a full course yellow in fifth place, with the Mercedes ahead yet to make its final stop. As the #87 entered the pit-lane, Charlie was able to chase the #93 Ferrari before making a move and taking third place on lap 57.

The #52 AF Corse was just too far ahead for the Aston, despite Charlie’s efforts to catch them and Salih and Oman Racing with TF Sport, ultimately took home third place. A superb recovery drive from the team who remain in third place in the championship standings, just five points off the top.

Salih Yoluc: "My stint was pretty much chaos. I had no clear running, massively vibrating brakes and then the contact which resulted in breaking the steering rack was pretty much sums up the stint.

"We lost some places due to the damage, but we luckily climbed back up to P3 on track, P2 after the post-race penalties were handed out. Overall we leave in high spirits knowing the car has good pace and we're now second place in the championship. Still seeking a win though, that I think we deserve, so onto Paul Ricard.”
