Nicky Catsburg looking forward to 24 Hours of Le Mans showdown

In the 87th running of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nicky Catsburg heads to the French circuit in search of a strong result to add to his accolades.

Fielding the largest ever grid of 62 cars, the race is set to be a thriller. Nicky lines up alongside BMW teammates Phillip Eng and Martin Tomczyk in a field of 18-entrants in LMGTE Pro.

As one third of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, Le Mans 24hrs is a global spectacle. The circuit de la Sathe hosts the final round of the World Endurance Series where Nicky sits ninth in the championship out of 43. Having finished every race this season in the top ten, with a podium during the 1000 miles of Sebring in March, Nicky has had a successful debut season.

He returns to Le Mans 24 hours for the second time, hoping to improve on the eleventh place he earnt last year.

“It’s my second time racing Le Mans and I’m really looking forward to it as it’s probably one of the coolest events of the year,” he explained, “ It’s always a full week in Le Mans, starting off with scrutineering in the city, then on the Tuesday we have the parade which is an awesome event, then of course driving the legendary track itself.

“It’s really cool track and the BMW has been pretty good so far in testing and the car feels good, hopefully we will have enough speed to be competitive. Last year was ok, we had some issues with the car which is not unusual for a car that early in its development. I think the car should be much more reliable this year and I’m aiming for a good result there and I’m really looking forward to it as its one of the highlights of the season.”
