“We believe Formula Renault is an ideal step before a driver graduates to the Formula 3 Asian Championship which is the thinking behind entering Asian Formula Renault,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard.
Kurt Hill is no stranger to Eurasia having raced for the team in the Formula Masters Asia Series in 2017. This will be the first season in cars for successful kart racer, Eshan Pieris, whilst Daniel Miranda is the Philippine Vios Cup Champion. Zhuhai will be his first time to race a Formula Car.
“Kurt was probably the least experienced driver on the grid last year in Formula Masters and by season’s end he had improved to become a constant top six runner. He was impressive in testing with the Formula Renault last month and he knows Zhuhai well having raced there twice. We are confident he will be competitive,” Goddard continued.
“Eshan is one of the region’s top karters and his performance in testing last month demonstrated he will be competitive from the first event. We are really looking forward to working with him.
“Living in the Philippines allowed me to closely follow the performance of Daniel in the Vios Cup and he demonstrated in testing our Formula car at Clark circuit that he processes the talent needed to succeed in single seater cars. He will probably be the least experienced driver on the grid at Zhuhai and we are really looking forward to helping him develop into a potential race winner before the end of the season.”
The six event, twelve race Asian Formula Renault series starts on March 17-18 at Zhuhai Circuit in China and concludes at Shanghai International Circuit in October.
