Luciano Carcheri and Giulia Maroni led the Nissan Terrano 1 #759 through the first 130 kilometres of the marathon. The crew promoted to the H3 Group, the highest performing, after their 21st position out of 118 starters.

 First sparks flew in the Arabian desert for the Squadra Corse Angelo Caffi. Today the team took on the prologue of the Dakar Classic 2022. Luciano Carcheri, Giulia Maroni and their Nissan Terrano 1 number #759 performed brilliantly in the opening 130 kilometres which, as per the regulations, will not make up the classification but will define the starting order of the race which will begin tomorrow with the first real stage.

The pair concluded the prologue stage with the twenty-first overall performance out of 118 cars, eleventh in Group H2. Important news at the end of this first taste is the transition to H3 Group. Given the car's performance, the Nissan Terrano 1 #759 has been moved to the H3 Group after receiving the ok by the scrutineers.

“I'm very happy, we've kept up a good pace and, most importantly, we've been given the OK to move from Group H2 to H3, which is the highest performing group. It will clearly be very challenging to take on the Dakar Classic 2022 in H3, but I'm sure that we will be able to do our best, thanks to the great technical preparation of TecnoSport and the crucial support of the Squadra Corse Angelo Caffi”.

The competitors have today completed a sort of ring around Ha'il where the bivouac has been set up and where the official start ceremony was also held. Ha'il itself will be the focus of tomorrow's stage, with a very similar surface, but with a more important mileage.

The first real stage will once again be a loop around the Ha'il bivouac. It will be a much more demanding stage with a total of 309km and 141km of competition, almost 50% of the stage. Similar characteristics to the prologue with sand on the track, but no real dunes.
