Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè took a clean and clear second win of the year in the first race at the Red Bull Ring, giving the Lambos of Emil Frey Racing their fifth success of the year. Moreover, the pair retakes the lead of the standings, although by only 2 points.

Today they beat the Senkyr Motorsport BMW M6 of Breitske Visser-Richard Gonda, in the reappearance of the Czech squad in the series, and the Teo Martín Motorsport McLaren 720S of Martin Kodrić-Henrique Chaves, now dropped to second in the standings.

Frederick Schandorff and new recruit Tuomas Tujula gave Vincenzo Sospiri Racing its first success of the season in Pro-Am, with the Lambo beating the Teo Martín McLaren of Marcelo Hahn-Allam Khodair and the other Huracan of Jiatong Liang-Raffaele Giammaria (Raton by Target).

In Am, standings leaders Alexander Hrachowina and Martin Konrad (HTP Motorsport) took no prisoners ahead of their home crowd, signing a fifth success in front of the two other Mercedes of Antonelli Motorsport, driven by Davide Roda and Giuseppe Cipriani.

 THE RACE – At the start, Saravia kicks-off well from pole ahead of the Lambs of Costa and Grenier, while Kodric has a poor start from row 1 having to let past also Crestani and Gonda. He retakes fifth at the end of first lap. Wilkinson leads the second group ahead of Hahn, Konrad (who leads in Am) and Tujula, the new driver of VSR. 
Positions at the top remain stable and with close gaps in the initial phases. Hahn and De Marco receive a warning flag for track limits, while Crestani receives a drive-through for a starting procedure infringement.  In lap 12, there is a contact betweek Marcin Jedlinski and Habul, with the Pole having to retire, while soon after there is some rubbing between Hahn and Onidi, with both incidents being investigated (Hahn wll later receive a 5-second penalty). 
By lap 18, it’s always Saravia, Costa, Grenier, Kodric and Gonda covered by only 7 seconds, with the driver change window opening one lap later. On track, the two Lazarus Lambos of Onidi and De Marco are fighting, get together door-to-door in turn 1, collide and spin but both can rejoin the race. The pit stops also yield a 10second penalty for Grenier for a dangerous entry in the pit lane. 
After all changes, in lap 19, Altoè leads by 7 seconds on Visser and 12 on Rueda. Chaves is fourth ahead of Siedler, Adam, Schandorff and Zampieri, while Hrachowina is a comfortable leader in Am.  In lap 21, Martinez touches Roda sending him into a spin and getting a 10-second penalty. 
While Altoè increases slightly his advantage, the attention is for the duel in the McLaren family, as Chaves catches Rueda and takes third in lap 34. Zampieri stops in the pits with a brakes issue. The Aston also gets an 8-second penalty for not serving the entire handicap. There will be a final charge of Chaves on Visser but positions will not change.
