Along with Daniel Miranda and Gao Hua Yang, the team head into the weekend at Shanghai International circuit hopeful of a strong points haul to elevate them in both championships.
With the season-new Hyundai i30 N TCR, the team have fought into fourth place in the teams’ championship after a successful start to their series debut. They are just two points behind third place.
Daniel also sits in fourth place in the drivers’ standings, just six points behind his nearest competitor. While Gao’s double-points haul in Zhuhai thanks to an overtaking masterclass, promoted him to a respectable ninth.
The team are searching for another strong showing at the Chinese circuit as the championship hits the mid-season point.
Eurasia Motorsport Team Principal, Mark Goddard:
"We are really looking forward to Shanghai. It’s a circuit where we have had lots of good results over the years and both our drivers know the track very well. Daniel and Gao Hua Yang are really getting their heads around how to drive the Hyundai i30N car now and we believe we have a realistic chance of some very good results with both drivers.
“Daniel is leading the Asian Driver class which is great for his first year in TCR and Gao Hua Yang is proving to be the best over taker on the grid.”
"I'm very excited for the third round of TCR Asia in Shanghai. The circuit is very memorable for me as I got my first podium finish there last year in Asian Formula Renault and I really like the track layout. Hopefully we can do it again with the i30 N TCR and score good results with Eurasia Motorsport."
Gao Hua Yang:
“After the last race in Zhuhai I started to get the ‘key’ of driving this TCR car, the car behaviour is much different to my previous experiences. Due to the BoP, I have to change my understanding of how to drive faster and I have worked a lot with my team to learn. It means I should have my speed back and fight for the podium. Shanghai circuit demands intense aero-dynamics and engine power and that will be the benefit for competitors, but let’s see what we can do.”
