ARAGÓN ABOARD: SPANISH TRACK GETS WTCR / OSCARO CALENDAR SLOT FOR 2020**
Spain will join the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO next season when MotorLand Aragón is added to the impressive list of venues. Subject to FIA Touring Car Commission approval and FIA World Motor Sport Council ratification (**), the 5.345-kilometre track close to the city of Alcañiz in the north east of the country will host the inaugural WTCR Race of Spain in 2020. While the exact date won’t be published until the 2020 calendar is ratified by the WMSC, WTCR / OSCARO promoter Eurosport Events is excited by the prospect of an event in Spain with a layout tailor-made for World Touring Cars. RACES OF MALAYSIA GETS LIVE COVERAGE ON ASTRO
The inaugural Races of Malaysia – a super-charged double-header festival of motorsport featuring the FIM EWC and FIA WTCR – will be shown live on Astro in Malaysia. On Saturday 14 December, Astro will broadcast the inaugural 8 Hours of Sepang in its entirety as local MotoGP hero Hafizh Syahrin competes for glory against leading contenders from the 2019-2020 FIM Endurance World Championship for motorbikes. Then on Sunday 15 December, the climax to the 2019 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO will be live on Astro, when three local wildcard racers – including Syahrin – will also be in action. AUDI-POWERED WILDCARD ENTRIES FOR WTCR RACE OF JAPAN
Local racers Ritomo Miyata and Ryuichiro Tomita will fly the Japanese flag when the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO visits their country from 25-27 October. Miyata, 20, and Tomita, 30, have secured wildcard entries for WTCR JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan at Suzuka. They will both drive an Audi RS 3 LMS under the Audi Team Hitotsuyama banner and their progress will be closely followed by the thousands of local fans expected to attend the 4 & 4 Autumn Races, which also features the Super Formula season finale. SUZUKA EAST COURSE TO CHALLENGE WTCR DRIVERS IN JAPAN
The Suzuka Circuit East Course will provide the challenge for drivers contesting WTCR JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan next month. With Races 1 and 2 taking place over 24 laps, and Race 3 covering 28 laps, the #WTCR2019SUPERGRID will be almost constantly in view of the fans watching from the grandstands. BALDI STARS, EURONICS PAIR DENY DORNIEDEN IN ESPORTS WTCR OSCARO
Hungarian Gergo Baldi converted pole position into Esports WTCR OSCARO victory number one with a dominant performance at a virtual Nürburging Nordschleife on Sunday evening. Kuba Brzezinski (Poland) finished the first of two top server races in second place with Germany’s Moritz Löhner third. Teamwork was crucial in the second race as the EURONICS Gaming duo of Florian Hasse and Julian Kunze combined to demote their fellow German Alexander Dornieden on the Döttinger Höhe straight on the final lap with Hasse winning to become the first Esports WTCR OSCARO driver to triumph more than once in 2019. Brzezinski now leads the ESPORTS WTCR Multiplayer Championship, while real-life WTCR / OSCARO racer Niels Langeveld won on server two following contact with Slovakian David Nemcek. Niels Langeveld has revealed how competing in Esports WTCR OSCARO kept him sharp during the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO’s recent summer break. ORDERS BEING TAKEN FOR WTCR RACE-WINNING LYNK & CO 03 TCR
Orders are being taken for the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, a multiple winner in the 2019 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO. The Geely Group Motorsport-developed car is being used by Cyan Racing and Cyan Performance in WTCR / OSCARO. However, from the first quarter of 2020, more customer teams will be able to take delivery of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR with China earmarked as the initial target market. Click for full story.
WTCR RACER GIROLAMI DOMINATES ON AUSTRALIA VISIT
Néstor Girolami was unbeatable on his TCR Australia debut over the weekend, winning all three races at Sandown in a Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR. A three-time winner in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO with ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport, Girolami was making a one-off appearance in TCR Australia at the behest of JAS Motorsport, the company behind the Civic Type R TCR. HUFF IS HIGHEST VOLKSWAGEN-POWERED CLIMBER IN WTCR
Rob Huff’s charge from P20 to seventh in Race 2 was the highlight for Volkswagen-powered Sébastien Loeb Racing at the recent WTCR Race of China. After climbing from P17 to P10 in the opening race of the weekend, Huff was even more impressive in Race 2 in his SLR VW Motorsport-entered Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. Click for full story.
