Civic Type R TCR driver Eversley wins to retain PWC lead

Ryan Eversley continues to lead the Pirelli World Challenge TCR division after securing a second win of the season at Lime Rock Park, USA, on Saturday.

The RealTime Racing driver qualified his JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic Type R TCR on pole position at the 2.4km circuit and led the weekend’s opening race from start to finish.

Eversley’s second race was altogether tougher. After dropping to third as the lights went out, he was inexplicably judged to have jumped the start and given a drive-through penalty.

His charge from 13th place brought him to fifth by the chequered flag, despite his recovery being severely affected by many laps under safety-car conditions owing to a number of incidents on-track.

Eversley has finished on the podium in five of the six races held so far.

His team-mate Adam Merzon was involved in an opening-lap incident in Race One that dropped him to the tail of the 24-car grid, but recovered to 11th by the finish. He added 12th in Race Two.

Nicola de Val, JAS Motorsport Senior Chassis Engineer, said: “RealTime Racing and Ryan Eversley are doing such an impressive job in the Pirelli World Challenge this year. They’ve won twice and been on the podium in all but one race so far. It makes me very proud that we could give them a car just a few weeks before the start of the season, and that they can be this competitive straight away. I’m sure they can continue to fight for the title over the coming races.”
