It’s been an astonishing season for Salih Yoluç already and the Turkish racer is targeting his third win on the bounce as the FIA World Endurance Championship next week travels to Bahrain for the fifth round of the season.
Along with teammates Charlie Eastwood and Jonny Adam, Salih took victory in the #90 Aston Martin Vantage GTE at Fuji Speedway and followed that up last time out with another decisive win, this time at the Shanghai International Circuit.
As well as TF Sport Sporting Director Tom Ferrier praising Salih's great drive, none other than Allan McNish took note in his 'Stars of Shanghai' column for the series.
"Salih Yoluc did a fantastic double stint, very fast, very consistent," the multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans winner stated. "Indeed, 50 percent of his laps during his double stint were within one second of his fastest lap of the stint as well. I thought it was a very good performance from him and helped secure the team’s second victory in a row."
Salih himself is looking forward to Bahrain, an eight-hour event that could see him potentially running for up to 300 minutes. At a minimum he will be driving for 140 minutes and given his recent performance will aim to lead from the front, despite the extra 45 kilos of success ballast.
"We are on a good form at the minute and our only wish is to continue to with that,” Salih said. “Bahrain is obviously a high point race and we are carrying the maximum success ballast possible, so that will make things interesting!
"I have trust in myself and in my team that we have the quality to overcome this and get away with a good result. Extending the championship lead is the only goal."
Leading the LMGTE Am standings by three points, the race gets underway Saturday 14 December at 15.00 local time. |
