MUNDIAL WEC - DOIS PODIOS PARA A NIELSEN NO DUBAI

Two podiums in two races for Nielsen

Heading into the final lap of the second round of the Asian Le Mans Series at Dubai Autodrome, it was game on for Matt Bell in the Nielsen Racing #8 Ligier LMP3 entry as he ran in fourth position with two rivals within striking distance ahead. A lap later, he and teammate Rodrigo Sales were celebrating a hard-fought podium position after a tenacious drive from the pairing.

While the #8 crew celebrated third in class, the #9 pairing of Tony Wells and Colin Noble were left disappointed after a left front suspension failure forced the Scot to retire from the four-hour race, following a long battle with Matt for position during the middle stages of the race. Nielsen Racing looks forward to Yas Marina, where the two final races of the season will be held in just a few days.

“We had a pretty challenging weekend so the podium at the end felt very rewarding! We were working through some issues throughout testing and qualifying which was hampering our performance quite a bit. The Nielsen team worked tirelessly to get through them though and the rewards for that effort began to show in race 1 with Rodrigo showing some great pace, matching the leaders through the middle portion of the stint. Unfortunately a run in with a GT car shortly before the second round of pit stops tipped Rodrigo into the wall and our race was over.

“We got another chance the next day though and after another great performance from my team mate I was able to battle up to 3rd! I want to thank my Nielsen crew for the massive effort they put in this week, hopefully we can keep the momentum going and aim higher on the podium in Abu Dhabi next week!."
