Cary Group, a European market leader in vehicle glass repair and replacement, has made the strategic decision to streamline its operations in Norway. This means that the business will consist solely of MPS Bilskade and Quick Car Fix, active in large and smaller collision damage repair. The decision means that Cary Group has chosen to sell parts of the existing car glass workshops to Norwegian Riis Montasje AS.
Cary Group's strategic review of its Norwegian operations means that the company continues to invest in businesses in which the company is the market leader, a strategy that Cary Group has for all its respective markets. This means that Cary Group is leaving its car glass operations in Norway and has come to an agreement with Norwegian Riis Montasje AS of a divestment of 12 workshops within Cary Bilglass. The other workshops, active in replacement and repair of car glass, will be closed.
Cary Group established itself on the Norwegian market in 2014 and has become one of the three largest players in car glass in Norway. Over the years, Cary Group's Norwegian operations have expanded and today, apart from being active in car glass repair, also consist of operations in large and smaller collision damage repair, through the acquisition of MPS Bilskade in 2022 and Quick Car Fix in 2021. Growing within this vertical is a Nordic strategy for Cary Group. These operations in Norway are very strong and through MPS Bilskade they are the market leader.
"Cary Group's strategy is to operate as number 1 or 2 in its respective markets. Through its successful presence in collision damage repair in Norway, it is natural that we put all our energy into focusing on this business. Besides this, we have not successfully established the same solid cooperation with the insurance companies in Norway as we have done in other countries. With that in mind, we see it as a natural decision to sell some of the car glass workshops to Riis Montasje AS, since these workshops will gain more from being part of a player with a larger presence on the Norwegian market. In addition, Riis operate a high-quality auto glass chain and come from a strong family culture, just like many of the businesses within the Cary Group. I have personally worked with the Riis family in auto glass for almost 30 years, both as a supplier, as a competitor and as a partner through AGE*. We look forward to deepening this collaboration and working closely together in the future," says Anders Jensen, CEO of Cary Group.
"We look forward to welcoming employees from parts of Cary Group's operations to Riis, which will strengthen our professional competence, says Frithjof Riis, owner Riis Montasje AS.
*AGE (Automotive Glass Experts) is a network for companies active in automotive glass and is present in 24 countries. The members can take advantage of the network through knowledge exchange and agreements. Cary Group has a membership in Sweden, Denmark, UK, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
The acquisition is subject to a competitive review, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
