Catsburg to join a host of racing stars in the opening round of the Brazilian Stock Car Championship

Nicky Catsburg will debut in the Brazilian Stock Car Championships ‘Race of Doubles’ at the Interlagos Circuit in Sao Paolo on the 10 March 2018.

Catsburg will join the multiple championship winning CIMED Racing squad and will partner 2016 Champion Felipe Fraga in the Chevrolet V8 stock car. The team will also field cars for F1 star and local hero Felipe Massa who will partner five-time Champion Caca Bueno and fast rising Brazilian talent ‘Pipo’ Derani.

The Brazilian Stock Car Championship’s only two driver event is renowned for the quality of its Brazilian and International entry and for the 2018 event, drivers that have been confirmed so far, in addition to the CIMED line up include, former F1 stars Rubens Barrichello, Nelson Piquet Jnr, Ricardo Zonta, Felipe Nasr, Jean Karl Vernay, Antonio Pizzonia and Lucas Di Grassi.

"I am super excited at the prospect of racing in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship," said Nicky. “I am extremely grateful for the invitation to join Filipe at CIMED Racing for the event where so many unbelievably high-quality drivers will be on the grid. I think there will be something like eight ex-F1 drivers as well as some amazing GT drivers present, so I will need to be on my best game to compete at the front where CIMED expect to be.

"My experience in the WTCC combined with my GT experience should put me in with a good chance."
