Like many of our clients and partners, we have experienced some tough challenges in 2020. We quickly adapted to the new and challenging environment, keeping our artisans and support staff in all locations as safe as possible.
We would like to thank our clients, partners and followers for their continued support, and we hope that even more so than usual, that the end of the year signals a new beginning, with high hopes of an exciting and more sociable 2021. We hope you enjoy this look back on some of the high points of Amalgam’s 2020, and we wish you all a peaceful holiday and a successful and happy New Year!
2020 saw us introduce our first weathered models at 1:18 scale, starting with the legendary Porsche 917K, the race winner at the 1970 edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona. The popularity of this special edition of 100 surpassed even our own lofty expectations, and before the year was over, we were delighted to introduce our next venture: the Ferrari 330 P4 that competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1967.
Our editions of weathered models at the larger scale gathered pace this year, as our model makers meticulously hand-painted and added race dirt and damage to several iconic race victors: the 2005 Le Mans winning Audi R8 prototype, the 1970 Daytona dominating Porsche 917K and the McLaren F1 GTR that shocked the world at Le Mans in 1995. Recently revealed images have shown one of our latest projects, that of Nigel Mansell's Ferrari F1-90 from the 1990 Mexican Grand Prix. We are looking forward to sharing more news with you very soon about further weathered models, including a first glance at Sir Stirling Moss' Mercedes-Benz W196 Monopsosto from the 1955 British Grand Prix, that our artisans are currently putting the finishing touches to.
