TF Sport chasing fourth straight victory as British GT heads to Spa

It’s closing up nicely in the British GT drivers’ championship with Silverstone winners Mark Farmer and Nicki Thiim second in the standings, just 2.5 points adrift of the lead. TF Sport enjoy a 41-point advantage in the teams’ standings as the series heads to Spa Francorchamps for round five of the British GT Championship.

The team tested at the Belgian venue earlier in the month, recording the second and third fastest times amongst the British GT cars taking part and with three victories on the bounce, expect another strong result in Sunday’s two-hour race.

While Mark and Nicki claimed their second win of the season at Silverstone in the #11 Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Derek Johnston and Marco Sørensen have also topped the podium this year and are aiming to close the 19.5 points gap to their teammates this weekend.

Marco has taken the fastest lap of the race on three occasions already this year, underlining the pace of he #17 Aston Martin in race trim. First practice sets underway on Saturday with qualifying in the afternoon. The race starts at 13.40 local time Sunday.
Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director
“We had a good test with both cars here at Spa and we are showing well in the championship, so the aim – as ever – is to make sure we finish and score well. We’ll have a success time penalty for Mark’s car which will make life harder, but we’ve shown great speed all year. There’s no reason why that should not continue this weekend.”

Mark Farmer #11
“Nicki said that I had to drive as fast as I could for as long as I can without crashing! Seriously though, we are really looking forward to this race. The Silverstone result was mega and while we carry success penalties into this race, we’re still aiming for another good result.

"Spa is also a great circuit and I have fond memories from our victory with Jon Barnes there two years ago. We had a good test there last week with the Blancpain guys, but it was very hot, so lap times were not fast, but I was pleased with how it went."

Derek Johnston #17
“It’s fair to say that Spa has never been a favourite circuit of mine, but we have had a successful test there recently and that has given me a real boost for the race. The championship is tight and we’re focused on getting a good result to ensure we remain in the hunt for the season finale at my favourite circuit, Donington Park.”

Marco Sørensen #17
“This is a great circuit and while I am happy to have set so many fastest laps recently, I really want to get back to winning ways at Spa Francorchamps. The test went well, so we need to see how the weekend plays out.”
