Balfe Motorsport returns to GT Cup

with two McLaren entries.

With the new season just around the corner, Balfe Motorsport is pleased to confirm a two-car entry into the GT Cup Championship season-opener which gets underway April 10-11 at Donington Park.

Balfe Motorsport continues its successful McLaren Customer Racing relationship and programme in the UK and will field the #90 McLaren 570S GT4 for Mike Price and Callum Macleod, as well as the #36 McLaren 720S GT3 for Stewart and Lewis Proctor.

Callum and Mike are a true Pro-Am pairing, the former an experienced racer in his own right, as well as a highly respected driver coach. With a lengthy and impressive CV, Callum most recently raced with RAM Racing in the International GT Open Championship, as well as selected races in GT World Challenge and Intercontinental GT Challenge.

Mike meanwhile has a background in the Porsche Club racing and the Cayman GT scene, with two-seasons of racing under his belt as well a great deal of valuable track day mileage. For 2021, it’s a new challenge for the British racer, as he continues to gain experience under the tutelage of his teammate.

The partnership between Steward and Lewis marks the renewal of the racing relationship, having raced together in GT Cup in the past and been confirmed for the British GT Championship later in the season. The father-son pairing both have experience of the 720S, the former having raced with Balfe Motorsport in British GT last season, the latter with Optimum Motorsport.

The seven-round championship kicks off at Donington shortly and concludes in October with the Snetterton 300.
MIKE PRICE, #90 McLaren 570S GT4

“I progressed from track days to actual racing, very much with a view to looking for lap time and it was an interesting wake-up in terms of how competitive the Porsche Cup series was. It was then a case of either making up the numbers or getting better and I met Callum. Working with him, I made gains and started to get podiums and a reward for the investment of time and money.

“For 2021 I wanted a new adventure with a new car, series and team and the opportunity to do GT Cup with Callum – who’s as a quick as any Pro – and myself, a progressing AM – it’s is an exciting opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to sharing the highs and lows with my teammate this year in what I expect to be an impressive grid.”
CALLUM MACLEOD, #90 McLaren 570S GT4

“The big part of the enjoyment for me is seeing the gains that Mike makes early on and we, as a pairing, then take it from there. I will get the most satisfaction watching him move ahead and away from his rivals as there’s a lot of work behind the scenes in making sure that Mike is performing at the highest level he can.

“I expect there will be some good competition with both good Pros and Ams in this championship this year, so we’re looking forward to it.”
LEWIS PROCTOR #36 McLaren 720S GT3

“I’ve only been racing four and a half years, and the half was actually in GT Cup with the Proctor/Proctor pairing. We did a few rounds and then it was a pause for our partnership together. We’re looking forward to being back in the championship, certainly for the first few rounds, to gain some valuable experience in the 720S GT3.

“Donington, we view as an opportunity to build some confidence together as a pairing, while Brands will be Stewart’s first event there in a long time, so we’re both looking forward to racing there ahead of the start of the British GT Championship.”
