NSX GT3 Evo 22 wins again in Thailand with Guidetti & Gagliardini

The NSX GT3 Evo 22’s superb season continued with another victory for JAS Motorsport Development Driver Jacopo Guidetti and his team-mate Andrea Gagliardini that takes the fight for the Thai Supercar GT3 title down to the season finale.

There was also representation for the JAS-built car at the second annual FIA Motorsport Games, which were held at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, over the weekend.

Guidetti and Gagliardini entered the penultimate round of the season as points leaders and performed superbly in Saturday’s opening race aboard the Vattana Motorsport-run NSX GT3 Evo 22.

After starting fifth, Gagliardini settled into second spot through the opening stint and was then able to hand driving duties to new Italian GT Sprint Champion Guidetti, who assumed an eight-second lead and turned it into one of more than 25s as the final lap began.

Heartbreakingly, he slowed to a crawl within sight of the chequered flag - his car out of fuel - and could not even make it to the finish line to score crucial championship points.

The pair made amends on Sunday from a second-place start; Guidetti running within 2s of the lead throughout his stint and Gagliardini seizing the advantage at the pitstops to win by more than 12s.

The duo are five points behind the championship leaders with 50 available from the final two races – also at Buriram – in December.

Team Hong Kong were the sole NSX GT3 Evo 22-based entry for the event at Paul Ricard, France, which was held for the first time since 2019.

Paul Ip and Marchy Lee were designated as the drivers with Ip making a sensational start to the first of two qualifying races as he leapt from 12th on the grid to sixth place on the opening lap aboard his KCMG-run car.

Unfortunately, he was spun to the back of the back by a rival early on and he and Lee – who took over at the mid-race pitstops – spent the rest of the race fighting back to 12th.

The duo were 10th in the second qualifier and ran a consistent pace during Saturday’s medal race until late contact with another car sent Ip into retirement.

Sunday’s GT Sprint competition allowed Gold and Platinum-graded drivers to compete solo in the 60-minute medal race along with Silvers like Lee, who qualified 13th. He drove well and finished 11th.

All the mentioned cars were competing as part of the NSX GT3 Customer Racing Programme; a global collaborative project with JAS Motorsport responsible for assembly of all cars.

Honda Performance Development (HPD) and M-TEC handle sales and technical support in North America and Japan respectively, with JAS responsible for these areas across the rest of the world.
