GT Sport announces date modifications for Spa and Barcelona rounds

GT Sport today announced further modifications to the 2020 season calendar of its three series (International GT Open, Euroformula Open and GT Cup Open Europe), in order to cope with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The round at Spa-Francorchamps, originally scheduled on 5-7 June will take place on 16-18 October.

As a consequence, and in order to avoid back-to-back events, the closing round at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya is moved to 29 October-1^st November.

GT Sport today announced further modifications to the 2020 season calendar of its three series (International GT Open, Euroformula Open and GT Cup Open Europe), in order to cope with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. 
The round at Spa-Francorchamps, originally scheduled on 5-7 June will take place on 16-18 October. 
As a consequence, and in order to avoid back-to-back events, the closing round at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya is moved to 29 October-1st November. 
These changes add to the already announced rescheduling of the round at Circuit Paul Ricard to 20-23 August.  
GT Sport continues to monitor closely the situation and has secured contingency dates and venues should other alterations to the calendar be needed.

“The entire world is faced with an unprecedented challenge, which will mark the history of current generations. We share the frustration of the racing community and fans in this period of lockdown, but the top priority now is to win the battle for the health and safety of all. 
We will be racing again, although nobody can predict exactly when that will happen. In the meantime, GT Sport is working to reorganize its calendar and be ready for the moment when activity can resume. Our guiding principle is to aim at keeping the same number of races as originally planned. Today we are announcing new dates for Spa and Barcelona and our contingency plans are in place if more re-planning will be required. 
At this very moment, I want to send a warm message of hope and encouragement to all our contenders, partners and fans, and their families. If we stay united and continue to do what we have to do, staying confined, the virus will be defeated and we will go back sooner to what we enjoy most: racing.
