Here’s a recap of some of the latest developments in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup.

EARLY WTCR PACE EXCEEDED 2019 EXPECTATIONS, GIROLAMI ADMITS
Néstor Girolami’s early-season trio of wins exceeded his expectations during his WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup debut campaign and made his dropping out of the title fight more dramatic than it actually was. Girolami won twice at WTCR Race of Hungary and also took the chequered flag first in Race 2 at WTCR Race of Slovakia. However, he wouldn’t win again thereafter and slipped from first to seventh in the final order. Reflecting on his 2019 season with the Honda-powered ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team, Girolami explained why he wasn’t able to stay at the top of the order, but why he’s still proud of what he achieved. WTCR KING MICHELISZ GOES ON TOUR – AND BACK TO UNIVERSITY
Norbert Michelisz, the King of the WTCR, took a trip down memory lane recently when he went back to university in Pécs in the southwest of his native Hungary. Michelisz, who won the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup in 2019 driving a BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse i30 N TCR, graduated from the former Mihály Pollack Faculty of Technology at the University of Pécs in 2006, before he completed his studies at the Faculty of Economics where he obtained a Master of Science in Finance in 2011. He told UnivTV Television of the University of Pécs journalist/editor Adrienn Gáspár his story. Click here to find out more.

EHRLACHER: MULLER’S 2019 WTCR TITLE BID HIS BEST YET
Yvan Muller’s pursuit of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup title in 2019 came on the back of his best campaign to date, according to his nephew and fellow Lynk & Co-powered WTCR racer Yann Ehrlacher. Four-time World Touring Car champion Muller, who turned 50 during the summer, challenged for the WTCR title at the Sepang super-finale last month following a late-season surge of form, which included a win double in China and Macau. Although he ultimately had to settle for third in the final reckoning, Ehrlacher was hugely impressed by his uncle’s performances in the #100 Lynk & Co 03 TCR. Click for full story.

WTCR-STYLE RACING RETURNS TO SEPANG
The Sepang International Circuit was alive to WTCR-style racing once again earlier this month when it hosted the opening rounds of TCR Malaysia. Venue of the title-deciding WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup super-finale in December, Sepang is being used for all events that make up the second TCR Malaysia season. Click for full story.
