It’s been a busy season already for Salih Yoluc as he looks forward to this weekend’s fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (12-14 October) at Fuji Speedway in Japan.
Having elected to skip the final round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, Salih arrived in Japan last week to take in the sights and scenes of Tokyo before traveling on to the circuit. He is keen to show that the pace of the #90 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GTE demonstrated at Silverstone in the last round and see that performance carried over at what is an all-new venue for driver and team.
It’s been a strong season already for Salih with the runner-up positions in the GTE Am class at both the first and third round of the Super Season at Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone respectively.
With the additional Blancpain GT Series victory secured at Silverstone, it has already been an impressive season for the Turkish driver as he prepares for the two-fly-away World Endurance Championship races followed up by his debut in the Asian Le Mans Series.
“I’m really looking forward to racing in Japan,” Salih explained. “It’s my first time competing at Fuji and it is a circuit that should suit the Aston Martin. With two-second positions already, we obviously want to go one step higher and see if we can beat the Porsches.
"We really want to win so we can close down the points difference to the championship leader. I expect we will get to run in varied weather conditions and that’s one aspect that is bound to be unpredictable. I believe we will be strong and if we have some luck on our side, for a change, then we should be good."
Friday is given over to three-hours of practice, with a further practice session on Saturday ahead of qualifying at 14.00 local time. The 6 Hours of Fuji starts Sunday at 11.00. |
