The duo currently compete together in both the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup and currently sit fifth and third respectively in the standings. Last year they made their debut in Asia, finishing a fighting third in the standings and with the series competing on largely the same circuits again for the 2019-20 season, the pairing expect to be challenging for championship honours.
The team, which will field multiple entries into the championship, will run the Norma LMP3 chassis for the first time, having made the switch ahead of the European season.
For Nielsen, the second season in Asia is all about building on the momentum gained with the new chassis in Europe and applying findings from its campaign there. With engineering excellence at the core of the team, the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series should bring the results deserved.
The championship gets underway in China on 24 November and further Nielsen Racing entries will be announced shortly.
David 'Sven Nielsen' Thompson – Team Principal
“We’re delighted to be heading back to Shanghai in November where we finished fourth on our debut. Having made the chassis switch earlier in the year, we’re confident that as a team, we will be right up there in the championship. We’re working very hard week-in-week-out to get the best from the package, ourselves as a team, and I believe that we will be able to deliver Tony and Colin with the machinery they need to win.
“On a personal note, we have worked with Tony and Colin for a very long time and we are grateful in the faith that they continue to show to the team as we continue to grow and develop. We’ll continue to focus on the European Championship and everything we continue to learn there is transferable to the four-round Asian Series.”
