Nielsen returns to Racing

The LMP3 Asian Le Mans Series champions are set to return to competition this week in Paul Ricard for the first round of the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup.

For Nielsen Racing, the aim is to maximise the benefits of continuity and to carry the winning momentum over from the Asian campaign and into the European season, challenging for victories and with that, the title itself.

The British-based squad will field two upgraded Duqueine M30 - D08s in ELMS for Rob Hodes/ Garret Grist / Charles Crews and Tony Wells / Colin Noble respectively. The same driver line-ups will also compete in Le Mans Cup, with the addition of a third D08 for the Grainmarket Racing entry of Alex Mortimer and Mark Crader, who both return for a second season with the team.

Sven Thompson, Team Principal talking to DSC

“We like to think that we are capable of taking podiums in every Championship, if that all comes together it’s about consistency and results.

“The absolute biggest highlight of my career was last October when we were named as the ELMS Team of the Year. It was completely unexpected. We didn’t have a clue we’d even be considered for it because we’re still fairly new. We’ve only been in the paddock for a couple of years. We haven’t won a European Championship yet (apart from some in the UK). And we won it before even starting the Asian Le Mans Series."
