Nielsen kick off Asian Le Mans with second in Dubai

Defending LMP3 champions Nielsen Racing returned to the Asian Le Mans Series this week in the UAE and continued where they left off with another fine race from the #9 duo of Tony Wells and Colin Noble to take the chequered flag in second position in the first round of the Dubai double-header.

Tony started the race from sixth position and following an early battle with the sister #8 Nielsen Racing Ligier driven by Rodrigo Sales, was able to pull clear and run a clean and trouble-free double stint. Tony made gains as the race progressed, moving fourth ahead of the #15 RLR entry before boxing mid-race under Full Course Yellow. Colin took over and was soon on the move, clocking the fastest lap of the race, passing the #33 of Adam Eteki and then soon after the #4 of Jan-Erik Slooten. From there, Colin fended off a brief challenge from behind before bringing the new Ligier JS P320 home in a merited second position.

Colin Noble #9 Ligier JS P320

“I'm really happy to be back on the podium on our first time out in the new Ligier with Nielsen. The car felt really good from start to finish, and our pace was really strong. Excellent job at Nielsen in the short period we had to prepare for this race, hopefully we can try go one step further tomorrow."
