Amalgam and Hagerty Host Jaguar Land Rover Classic

For an evening of Wheels, Art, and Design

We are pleased to share the highlights from our recent event, "An Evening of Wheels, Art, and Design", held in collaboration with Jaguar Classic, Hagerty and Escapade Silverstone at the Hagerty Clubhouse in Bicester last month. The gathering celebrated the rich intersection of art and automotive artistry and design, explored by a panel of automotive art and design insiders, and moderated by leading automotive journalist Rory FH Smith.

Guests also enjoyed art of a culinary nature created by Ottolenghi of Bicester, while chewing on pithy pronouncements from the panel. The Evolving Market for Automotive Art, Fine Models and Collectables was explored by Renata Fernandes from Escapade, John Mayhead from the Hagerty Price Guide, and Alistair Sommerville from Jaguar Land Rover Classic, along with our founder Sandy Copeman, and automotive artist and photographer, Alan Thornton. Following that first panel discussion we were treated to a fascinating presentation by the renowned British car designer Peter Stevens, who shared his story of the design and development of the Jaguar XKR15.

The event also showcased a fine array of iconic Jaguars, generously brought along by Jaguar Land Rover Classic, featuring two Jaguar XKR15's along with perfect examples of the legendary E-type, D-type and C-type. Amalgam proudly displayed an array of Jaguar models at 1:8 scale, including the XKSS, E-type, D-type and XK120, as well as a collection of artfully weathered models at 1:8 and 1:18 scale. The driving force behind the event was the launch of a new collection of Jaguar E-type and Land Rover artworks created by Alan Thornton in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover Classic. Alan has captured the essence of these iconic vehicles and delivered it in precisely detailed artworks with extraordinary depth and life.
