Our final batch of race weathered Ferrari 330 P4 models at 1:18 scale is nearly completed with the models anticipated to be dispatched in the first couple of weeks in May. Fewer than 50 pieces remain from this limited edition of just 100 pieces. The models have been meticulously hand-painted and detailed by our artisans in Bristol to precisely replicate the race dirt that adorned the car at the end of the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans. As one of the last Ferrari prototypes that still resembled a sports car, the 330 P4 took to the world sports car stage during one of its most exciting eras.
The 330 P4 is one of the most revered Ferrari race cars of all time. Pitted against the Ford GT40 programme, which had beaten Ferrari at Le Mans in 1965, this V12 powered Ferrari, surpassed the performance of its 330 P3 predecessor with an all new three valve cylinder head and other significant engine modifications. Whilst the GT40 brought brute power and strength to the world’s race circuits, Ferrari stuck to their formula of prototypes with smaller more refined engines, believing that this package of technical sophistication and sublime handling would outclass the American manufacturer’s torque in the end.
This model was developed using data from a digital scan of the most perfect example of the 330 P4 left in existence, a car that has not suffered crash damage nor had major modification. The prototype model has been scrutinised by Ferrari Classiche to ensure complete accuracy. Each model is accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car as it crossed the line, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images Collection.
The 330 P4 isn't the only weathered project in the Amalgam workshops currently.
This limited edition of five celebrates Sir Stirling Moss first Grand Prix win at the 1955 British Grand Prix. Moss led the group of four W196 Monopostos to take first, second, third and fourth places at Aintree in July 1955.
