Red Bull RB16B

A Special Honda Tribute Livery

We are elated to unveil our 1:8 scale models of the special Honda tribute-liveried Red Bull RB16Bs as driven by Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez at the Formula 1 Rolex Turkish Grand Prix on the 10th of October 2021. Our finished sample models have now been approved by the design and engineering teams at Red Bull Racing after a deep dive into all the details to ensure complete accuracy of representation. These models are extremely limited with the editions numbering 33 Max and 11 Checo models, linking delightfully to the drivers' car numbers. Only ten pieces remain in the Verstappen edition; we recommend interested clientele order early to avoid disappointment.

After Honda announced towards the end of 2020 that the 2021 season would be their last in Formula 1, Red Bull Racing's Team Principal Christian Horner was keen to honour the vital contribution Honda made to their success. He ordered his designers to develop a special livery for the Japanese Grand Prix, in what should have been Honda's final home race at Suzuka. Though the race was later cancelled, Red Bull decided to proceed with the tribute, and the location would now be at the Turkish Grand Prix.

In a matter of weeks the Brand Team generated the design, taking inspiration from Richie Ginther’s 1965 Mexican Grand Prix-winning Honda RA272 and the classic white Honda race suits of the the 1950s and 1960s. Whilst the Brand Team were receiving approval from the team's sponsors, the Paint Shop was working hard on making the jigs and planning the processes for the job. The design was unanimously signed off, and so the team in the Paint Shop disassembled the cars and painted each individual part with unique paint mixtures formulated in-house.

Honda have long been associated with motorsport at the highest level, and they are the fifth most successful engine manufacturer in history of Formula 1. The conclusion of the 2021 season marked the close of their fourth term in the sport, having also competed as a team. After making their debut in 1964, Honda became the first non-European team to win a Grand Prix outside of the Indianapolis 500 with Richie Ginther's victory at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix. The team withdrew after the 1968 season, but Honda returned in 1983 as an engine manufacturer and enjoyed a golden age: winning six Constructors' Championships and five Drivers' Championships between 1986 and 1991, alongside the Williams and McLaren teams. Leaving once more in 1992, Honda returned again in 2000, providing engines for British American Racing. BAR-Honda finished second in the 2004 Constructors' Championship, only behind Ferrari, and Honda bought out the BAR team, taking full control for 2006. Future World Champion Jenson Button earned the team its third ever Grand Prix victory that season, before Honda again pulled out of Formula 1 once again in 2008. Honda entered the hybrid era in 2015, reuniting with McLaren. Whilst the historic partnership did not prove successful this time, Honda instead began providing power units for Toro Rosso in 2018, before supplying both Red Bull teams from 2019 onwards. Red Bull Racing Honda earned race wins in 2019 and 2020, before powering Max Verstappen to his Drivers' Championship success at the end of last season.

Red Bull RB16B

As raced by Sergio Pérez in Baku

We still have availability for models in our edition of 1:8 scale replicas of the Red Bull Racing RB16B, as raced to victory by Sergio Pérez in the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2021 at Baku City Circuit on the 6th of June 2021. Pérez took his first victory as a Red Bull driver, surviving a late-race battle with the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, after a late red flag restart brought about by a dramatic puncture that deprived Max Verstappen of an almost certain victory.
