The International GT Open to run on 6 events in 2020
GT Sport today announced an update with regard to the 2020 season calendar of the International GT Open, following the latest developments on the Covid-19 pandemic effects and the progressive easing of restrictions all over Europe.
GT Sport confirmed that the series will be run this year on 6 events, one less than originally scheduled, because of the cancellation of the Hockenheim round, for which a workable alternative date could not be found.
GT Sport is currently working with all concerned circuits and their national authorities to establish the protocols that will allow holding the events in conditions safe for all and ensure traveling to the events. Teams and all involved partners will be informed in due course.

Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport:
“As the situation resulting from the Covid-19 crisis evolves towards a progressive return to almost normal life, we are taking steps to ensure that we have a smooth, practical and attractive 2020 season. We are today confirming a season based on 6 events, one less than originally scheduled. We regret that a workable alternative date for the Hockenheimring round could not be found, but we look forward to going back to that great track in 2021. Under the current circumstances, dropping one event seemed the most reasonable approach. We are now focusing our efforts to work with circuits and relevant national authorities in order to ensure safe and smooth events for everybody.”
